Library
As
a critical element in the intellectual development of students,
the library curriculum promotes a quest for learning and conveys
the importance of using and evaluating informative resources
throughout life. The program teaches students to become confident,
responsible users of information and technology as well as
instills a life-long love of reading through the exposure
and discussion of a variety of literature genres, authors
and illustrators.
The
2700 sq. foot library is just one of the well-lit and nurturing
facets of the school and is centrally located on campus. It
is a fully automated, networked facility housing over 11,000
books and offers a variety of on-line resources. The space
features two instructional areas with several computerized
catalog search stations so that materials can be accessed
at all times during the school day. The library also accommodates
a storytelling area, and individual reading and group research
areas. The computer lab, which includes an additional 19 computers,
is located within the library and provides opportunities for
simultaneous and effective research of both print and electronic
resources.
