Second Grade
Second grade students are eager learners with a willingness to take risks and a ready sense of adventure. Our program engages students' enthusiasm individually as well as via cooperative learning through partner, small group and whole group activities. Students continue to make great strides in all academics areas as well as social and community building skills.
Genealogy Project
 Second graders have spent the last month researching the origins and ancestry of their families. Students learned about the background of their families by conducting interviews with family members. Each student was then able to create their own family tree, a giant family tree was erected to show all of the families of second grade.
Students also contributed to a massive quilt that shows information about each second graders' family. This activity has been proved to be educational both in and outside of the classroom. Families have enjoyed sharing their stories with the children, who in turn shared them with our class. We will finalize our studies by having a parent come in and share her expertise in genealogy with the class.
 Second graders participating in a cross curricular, multicultural, music/art project entitled "Let's Make Music." They are
performing the beautiful song "Canta, Canta- Pretty Dove," using their rain
sticks. These are Chilean instruments that they made in art class.
