Third Grade
Third grade is a year of significant academic, social and emotional growth. More abstract materials are presented and students, whose cognitive skills have matured, are able to handle more responsibility, working independently through problem solving and critical thinking activities. Students work together to build positive self-image and confidence with daily attention to this sensitive period of social and emotional development.
Technology Unit
Third graders recently enjoyed a unit on technology, in which the students learned that even "simple" inventions such as a hammer or the wheel were technological breakthroughs of the time.

The students then used some relatively low-tech tools and skills to plan and build simple structures using wood, small saws, glue, and paper. After designing and building solidly reinforced frames, they added wheels and made balloon-powered cars.
