Summer Camp Theme Descriptions

Week 1 Earth Day, Every Day June 21 - June 25
Leaders: Ali Wall & Kathy Saia  
Field Trip: Hiking; State Park  

Simplify life…this week we will focus on Mother Earth, campers will learn how to reduce, reuse, recycle through various activities. Campers will be gardening, planting trees, turning old t-shirts into tye-dye, resusing materials to make crafts. We will also be attending a Phillies game as part of the Phillies Go Green campaign. Campers will help to clean up and recycle at the ball park while watching the Phillies play!


Week 2 The Spanish-Speaking World June 28 - July 2
Leaders: Nicole Donnelly & Sophie Ragone  
Field Trip: Taller Puertorriqueño - students will learn about Puerto Rico & make their own art project
Let's take a spin around the globe to see all the different places where people speak Spanish. See the sights, taste the foods, experience the games and the crafts of different Spanish-speaking countries.


Week 3 Active Bodies
July 5 - July 9
Leaders: Ali Wall & Kathy Saia  
Field Trip: Activity Center  

Campers will begin their day stretching and loosening up their bodies, participate in yoga, zumba, dance, jump rope activities, learn about healthy eating through the food pyramid, make healthy snacks, as well as enjoy some team sports.


Week 4 Wild, Wild, West July 12 - July 16
Leader: Kathy Saia  
Field Trip: Horseback riding  

Campers will travel back in time to the Wild West; they will make tee pees, sing campfire songs, tell stories, make western crafts and play fun games.


Week 5 Rivers, Lakes, Oceans Exploring Water July 19 - July 23
Leader: Kathy Saia  
Field Trip: Adventure Aquarium  

Campers will learn about the different bodies of water that we see as well as what types of creature live in those waters.


Week 6 Out of this World July 26 - July 30
Leaders: Kathy Saia  
Field Trip: Fels Planetarium at Franklin Institute  

Join us as we blast out of this world to outer space! We will explore the sun, moon, planets, and stars. Campers will have a blast making some out of this world crafts while exploring the solar system. Maybe we will even find some aliens….


Week 7 Fun in the Jungle Aug 2 - Aug 6
Leaders: Kathy Saia  
Field Trip: Zoo  

Welcome to the jungle! Campers will learn about the jungle habitat, what creatures live in the jungle, as well as sounds of the jungle. This is sure to be a week filled with wild fun ending with a trip to the zoo!


Week 8 Friends School's Got Talent Aug 9 - Aug 13
Leader: Julie-Ann Green  
Field Trip: Campers will see a professional production; TBA
