Middle School Art
– T. Dianne

The focus of art projects for the second trimester has been on the element of color and value.

Sixth grade completed an extensive unit on color theory. They started by laying out a color wheel with primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. Next students create a nine square grid of various color schemes. Finally students created a “Pop Art” style drawing using their knowledge of color.

Seventh grade studied “Op Art” or Optical Art. As a result of their investigations students developed amazing artwork that creates the illusion of movement, vibrates with contrasting or complementary colors, and appears to bend, twist, or pop off the page.

The third trimester will focus on the art element of form. Students will create three-dimensional artwork in several media including, paper mache, clay, and mixed media.
