Seventh Grade
English – T. Joe
We have been covering Lorraine Hansberry’s “A
Raisin in the Sun.” At the end of February ABC aired
a modern adaptation of the play starring Felisha Rashad and
Sean Combs. The students all watched this at home with their
parents. Since then we have discussed the Harlem Renaissance
and the dawn of African-American theater. The students read
“A Raisin in the Sun” and now are comparing it
to the 1964 film "Nothing But A Man," that centers
on the struggles of a young African-American railroad worker.
The students are working on writing their memoirs as well.
But the catch is that they only are allowed to use 6 words!
It should be interesting.
Science – T. Jason
The seventh grade will begin working with DNA. In lab they
will actually extract the DNA from a mystery subject.
Math– T. Jerry
Students are studying functions and the applications
of a function. Graphing, finding the vertex, parabola and
hyperbola will be examined as well. Later on students will
focus on slope, slope-intercept, and finding the line of an
equation.
