The Case for Quaker Education
There has been much media coverage of the Obama
family’s decision to send Sasha and Malia to Sidwell
Friends School. We congratulate the Obama family on their
decision.
Friends School Mullica Hill and Sidwell Friends School are
among the 86 member schools of the Friends Council on Education
(http://www.friendscouncil.org/).
All Friends Schools share a common mission: to nurture the
academic, emotional and social growth of our students, within
a community that honors peace, diversity, collaboration, and
social justice. Quakers believe that there is “that
of God in each person.” At FSMH, our school community
reflects a deep respect for each student’s talents and
abilities, as we all have something worthwhile and unique
to contribute. Like Sidwell Friends, daily life at FSMH includes
the active engagement of students in collaborative learning.
Our graduates become intellectually curious, socially responsible,
and spiritually aware citizens of the world.
