The following events are some of the activities that are held in a typical school year. For specific event dates please refer to the
School Calendar.

August

Pre Kindergarten & Kindergarten Ice Cream Social
This event is a great opportunity for new and returning Pre K and K families to get together before school begins. Ice cream is served by volunteers from the PA.

September

New Parent & Student Gathering
This meeting provides our new parents a change to have their questions answered by the Head of School, the Principal and the Director of Admissions, as well as the Executive Committee of the Parent Association. While parents meet, the new students are engaged in activities that promote new friendships.

Back to School Picnic
Join the FSMH community for the annual celebration of the start of the school year! Families can visit the teachers, check out classrooms, and enjoy the company of other FSMH families! Many families may prefer to bring their own picnic dinner but an option to pre-order Joe's pizza and salads is available. The PA will provide water and desserts.

PA Back to School Coffee
Once school starts it is tough enough getting the kids out the door with breakfast, let alone making sure parents eat! Parents can stop by the Gym for light breakfast fare provided by the PA Executive Committee. This is a opportunity to visit with parents and school staff.

Back to School Nights
The Back To School Nights involve a brief welcome by our Head of School and an introduction to the lower and/or middle school faculty. Parents have the opportunity to visit their children’s classrooms and become familiar with the teachers’ expectations for the current school year. (These are parent events; childcare is not provided.)

International Day of Peace
Students investigate the meaning of peace in class activities prior to this commemorative day. A brief ceremony and planting of pinwheels for peace takes place on September 21.

Monarch Butterfly Parade
After an intensive study of the monarch butterfly, lower school students don costumes of the butterfly’s life stages and proceed to parade around campus. Families are invited.

PA Magazine Sale
This is a fundraiser though QSP Inc., that provides 40% of each purchase to Friends School Mullica Hill Parent Association. Many families choose to start or renew their magazine subscriptions through this fundraiser. Hard copies of the order forms are sent home in September, but orders can also be placed online at www.qsp.com, using our school identification number: 425007203, during the entire school year.

October

Inspired Pasta (and conversations with Bruce)
Join other FSMH parents at these PA sponsored dinners with the Head of School. These dinners give Bruce, and parents, the opportunity to interact in a smaller group setting. Child care with pizza and drinks will be provided in the Gym for the Pre K through 8th grade dinners.

Fall Festival
The Fall Festival, is the PA’s largest fundraiser of the school year. Last year’s event raised $13,738, which was 68%of the amount placed in the FSMH Technology Fund. This event is a day of fun for FSMH families and the surrounding community, with games, crafts, food and music.

High School Night
To help our graduating 8th graders make informed decisions about their high school, this night is designed to introduce the independent high schools from the Delaware Valley area. Representatives (including FSMH alumni) will be present to talk with interested parents and students.

Halloween Parade
At the end of the school day, parents are invited to watch the parade of princesses and goblins. Following the parade, refreshments will be served to the school community.
