Music Together
Ages: Birth to 4 years old
A Music Together Class is:
- A community of families sharing songs, instruments play,
rhythm chants, and movement activities in a relaxed, playful,
non-performance-oriented setting.
- Music learning through developmentally appropriate activities
that support and respect the unique learning styles of very
young children.
- Infants, toddlers, and preschoolers participating at their
own levels in family-style classes of mixed ages.
- Parents and caregivers contributing to the enrichment
of their child’s music environment, regardless of
their own musical abilities.
Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood
music program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners,
and the adults who love them. First offered to the public
in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally
appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly
emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.
Music Together classes are based on the recognition that
all children are musical. All children can learn to sing in
tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the
music of our culture, provided that their early environment
supports such learning. By emphasizing actual music experiences
rather than concepts about music, Music Together introduces
children to the pleasures of making music instead of passively
receiving it from CDs or TV.

Suzuki Violin Academy
Ages: 3- 7yrs
The Suzuki Violin Method is an opportunity
for parent-child bonding that will forever enhance your relationship
with your child. The method develops a child’s listening
skills and encourages young children to a deeper level of
critical thinking. It focuses on the development of violin
skills and on the overall emotional, intellectual, and physical
growth of your child.
What is the Suzuki Method?
Founded by the legendary Japanese teacher Shinichi Suzuki,
the Suzuki Violin Method is one that seeks to realize the
fullest musical and personal potential of each child through
the medium of the violin. At the heart of the Suzuki philosophy
is the belief that children learn music in exactly the same
manner in which they absorb language – through constant
immersion and repetition in the home environment. Just as
all children can learn to speak their native tongue, so too
can all children become proficient in music.
Daily listening to recordings, daily practicing, regular concert
attendance, encouragement and love are required of both student
and parent. In addition to regular half-hour private lessons,
students will attend a weekly 45 minute group class, a highly
beneficial supplement to the private lesson and a chance to
work with other young students.

All students taking private lessons at Friends Fine and Performing
Arts are eligible to participate in ensemble free of charge.
