Middle School

6th through 8th Grades

Academics-Middle-School-Group-Photo

The Middle School curriculum is designed for students to reach their potential academically, intellectually and socially. It encourages each student to strive for academic excellence while offering them the support to progress at their own pace.

The Middle School program offers a strong academic emphasis that exposes students to a variety of experiences through project based learning. With rigorous support from our skilled teachers, students are encouraged to identify their areas of interest, engage in global and local research, build relationships and mobilize solutions in their community.

Academic projects such as United Nations Day, the World Fair, and field trips provide students the opportunity to expand their scholastic strengths and interests. Art and music curriculum, combined with technology classes, physical education, drama and musical productions provide exposure to the fine and performing arts to support development, cognitive empathy, and creativity.

Students are encouraged to compete in interscholastic sports teams that include soccer, basketball, and field hockey. Throughout Middle School, there is a focus on teamwork and on fostering a spirit of mutual cooperation and trust. Our students continue their high school education with a solid academic foundation, a creative sensibility, empathetic respect for others and confidence in themselves.

Middle School objectives for each student are:

• To become thoroughly prepared for the academic rigors of college preparatory school;
• To accept the challenge to do their best;
• To learn to adapt to change;
• To thrive through success or failure.

Last week, FSMH hosted a circus themed art show in our Hanshi Deshbandhu building. Every student from Pre-K through 8th grade had a piece in the exhibit. The students’ mediums included water colors, mixed media, acrylic on canvas, glazed ceramics, and yarn just to name a few! Congratulation to all our students for their amazing work! ... Four weeks until Summer Camp at Friends School Mullica Hill

Some campers show up nervous on day one. But once the fun begins, camp anxiety disappears.

They make new friends, play games with bunkmates and build memories that will last a lifetime.

Suddenly they don’t want camp to end.

Our summer camp starts on June 22 and goes until August 14. Book now! Registration link in bio.

Last night, our Middle School students wowed a packed audience with their production of Frozen Jr. Our younger students, their families, middle school families, faculty/staff and alumni all were captivated by the talent both on and off stage. We want to give a huge “shout out” to all of the student actors, stage crew members and the one student musician in the orchestra! There was a way for all our Middle School students to showcase their talents!

We also want to thank T. Sophie for directing, T. Kate for music direction, T. Mark, T. Mariah and T. Piper for scenic design and properties, Kindergarten parent Courtney Tarpy and T. Erica for costumes, and to all the faculty/staff and families who supported the musical. Students, what an incredible performance! We are so proud of you and all your hard work! All the hard work paid off: it was truly remarkable!
