Substitute Teacher Job Description Part-time as Needed

Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year

Position Summary: The Substitute Teacher provides a warm, inclusive, and academically engaging classroom that reflects the values of Quakers. The teacher follows developmentally appropriate lesson plans, fosters curiosity and independence, and supports the social-emotional growth of each student. This position includes integrating Quaker testimonies, such as simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship, into classroom routines and curriculum

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in education or related field strongly preferred.
Significant teaching experience, ideally in an independent or Friends school environment.
Demonstrated leadership in curriculum design, instructional coaching, or academic administration.
Familiarity with and appreciation for Quaker educational philosophy; willingness to engage in Quaker practices.
Strong communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the growth of all members of the school community.
