Teacher Appreciation Week Story

This imaginative story was written by FSMH parent Rachel Owens in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you, Rachel!

Enjoy!

Once upon a time in the faraway land of Mullica Hill, nestled into a beautiful campus of rolling hills and grand, old trees, sat a little kingdom called “Friends”. Friends was ruled by the kind and giving Teacher Matt, who always put the children first. Teacher Matt and his amazing colleagues, Teacher Tina, the royal organizer, Teacher Lori, the royal guard, Teacher Judy, the royal procurer of funds, Teacher Erica, the royal procurer of students and Teacher Laura, the royal financier, ran the school with heart and grace and took excellent care of all those who entered the kingdom.

One fine May day, the children of the kingdom of Friends arrived to school to find that it had been transformed into a magical place filled with folk tales and music and their wonderful teachers. As their carriages arrived to drop them off at school, they were immediately greeted by the kingdom’s nature expert, Teacher Peter, accompanied by several of his pet blue birds, as he assisted them in safely crossing the path to the magical kingdom of Friends. Also aiding in their entrance to Friends was the wonderful Teacher Glenn, ensuring the children made it safely into the kingdom and that there was no interference from the screeching bells of the kingdom doors.

The children made their way to their classrooms through their newly enchanted school. The littlest children arrived at their classroom to find Teacher Nancy and Teacher Linda baking some delicious treats for them to enjoy as they learned their first skills in school. Teacher Amy could be found sewing enchanted costumes for her students to play with throughout their day as they learned their letters and numbers. Teacher Megan was creating magical lessons to engage her young students and grow their minds to their fullest potential by teaching them to read and learn in new ways.

In the royal guard’s office, Teacher Mark and Teacher Sidney were making plans to create a kingdom that was safe for the children, protecting them from any danger and making the school magical. Teacher Bob was creating special plans to challenge the students in their physical fitness by participating in games of merriment.

The older students were excited to see Teacher Annie, Teacher Sandy and Teacher Debbie in their finest folktale attire, recently purchased from the grand isle of Macy’s, as they prepared lessons on the ancient lands and political processes as well as the fundamental lessons for knowledge enhancement. Teacher Patricia and Teacher Patti were eagerly working to create challenging lessons for their students, covering the history of the surrounding kingdoms and time periods long ago.

Teacher Brad’s classroom had become a magical place where he taught students that they could be transmitted through time and space simply by reading a story, and Teacher Sophie’s classroom became a land of a different language, where students learned through dramatic performances and her excellent instruction how to communicate with those who spoke a language different than their own.

Teacher Peter’s classroom and instruction brought students the ability to connect with nature and to learn about the geography of their kingdom and kingdoms far, far away. And, Teacher Sara’s classroom and her teaching challenged and opened students’ minds to the intricacies of formulas and equations.

Teacher Jason was hard at work teaching students the complex sciences of the modern world, as well as the fundamental mathematical processes they would need to achieve their goals. Teacher Glenn brought the students a deep knowledge of their kingdom’s founding people as well as the beginnings of their mathematical and scientific education.

Upon entering the royal library students found Teacher Diane locating all of the magical fairytale books for them, painting beautiful scenes from the kingdom and teaching them to do so as well. Teacher Dawn was teaching students the technology of the modern world through activities that even included an enchanted being, a little robot who could be told what to do by the humans.

In the space of big exciting things, beautiful music could be heard as the students learned from Teacher Kate how to harmonize on their instruments and with their voices.

Teacher Christine assured that the students whose parents were out performing their kingdomly duties, were well cared for in the early morning and late afternoon hours, providing them with fun and enrichment. And, when students fell ill, they were whisked away to Teacher Annette and Teacher Shannon for spells and antidotes to their ailments.

Teacher Colleen and Teacher Karen visited the kingdom to aid in the education of all the wonderful students at Friends, and Teacher Skye was there to lend a helping hand and listening ear for all those in need.

Teacher Tina and Teacher Lori made sure the kingdom ran smoothly every day while Teacher Laura and Teacher Judy made sure that the economy of the kingdom remained healthy. Teacher Erica ensured that new students were given the opportunity to come to the wonderful kingdom of Friends.

As the day continued on, the students found that while, on this day, Friends had been enchanted, the things they noticed about their teachers weren’t magic and they weren’t new. They had always been true. Their teachers had always been the best in all the land and had always provided them with an unparalleled education. What they came to know is that their teachers should be and were the most appreciated of them all!!
